Mawlanas berühmter Satz „Selbst wenn die Wälder Pfannen und der Ozean Tinte wären“ weist deutlich darauf hin, dass Mathnawi unendlich ist, und spielt auf die Aussage im Koran an, dass Gottes Worte unendlich sind.
